Mr. Groce comes to the West Michigan Aviation Academy with more than three decades of business operational and management experience. He is highly respected as an administrator, problem solver and trouble shooter in the private and public sectors. He has lived in Kentwood, MI for over 20 years and has always demonstrated dedication to his community and its residents through his participation in school and civic issues. Mr. Groce has been involved in activities and organizations that encourage and enhance opportunities for youth including his participation as a Board Trustee of St. John’s Home, Junior Achievement Executive Advisor, Department of Social Services Youth Companion program and as a long time mentor at East Kentwood High School.
During his lengthy tenure in the private sector Mr. Groce earned a reputation as a team builder and innovative thinker with a disciplined approach to public service. He is highly effective in developing partnerships that provide a non-threatening environment for effective communication between the school, parents, students and the community and has the ability to facilitate partnerships that enhance learning for youth. Mr. Groce enthusiastically anticipates working with the staff and community to provide opportunities for students to acquire knowledge and understanding, pursue special interests, strive to achieve academic excellence and develop social and vocational skills at the West Michigan Aviation Academy.
Mr. Groce holds a B.S. degree in Mechanical Engineering from Oakland University, a B.S. degree in Business Administration and a Masters degree in Management both from Aquinas College.
