Mrs. Denouden brings enthusiasm and real-world experience to our math and science departments. She has a Bachelor of Science in Engineering degree from Calvin College and holds a Master of Education degree from Grand Valley State University. Mrs. Denouden has experience teaching in several capacities.
As an environmental engineer, she worked closely with various industries educating them about state and federal clean air regulations and helping them adjust operations to stay in compliance. While obtaining additional engineering certifications and degrees, Mrs. Denouden also worked as an adjunct mathematics instructor at Grand Valley State University. She has served and taught English in Japan and China, has worked with alternative education students, served as a middle school math teacher while actively volunteering on a team implementing Common Core standards, has tutored local shelter residents in math, and volunteered with our own West Michigan Aviation Robotics Team.
Mrs. Denouden believes that students learn best in a classroom that practices the values of integrity, respect, encouragement, compassion, self-control, gratitude, and perseverance. Coupled with her passion for math, physics, engineering, teaching, and cross-cultural experience, she is excited to partner in her students’ continued successes at West Michigan Aviation Academy.
