Mr. Bakker is entering his second year as an Aviation Teacher and Flight Instructor at WMAA. He is teaching Intro to Aviation Weather and Intro to Flight Planning as well as flight instructing in the Private Pilot Flight class.
Mr. Bakker graduated from Western Michigan University with a degree in Aerospace Engineering. He earned his flight certification at the School of Missionary Aviation Technology (SMAT) in Ionia, MI along with his Airframe and Powerplant certificate. He has served as a flight instructor at both SMAT and WMU’s College of Aviation.
Prior to coming to WMAA, Mr. Bakker worked as an engineer for Williams International working on commercial jet engines. He has a strong passion for working with high schoolers and looks forward to helping them become better students, pilots, and people.
