Physics and Department Recommendation
Chemistry Honors is more rigorous and intense than Chemistry, and is taught at a faster pace. It will also include more reading, writing, and more difficult in-class laboratory experiments including greater responsibility in designing these experiments. Topics include atomic structure and behavior, chemical bonding and reactions, stoichiometry, gases, solutions, acids and bases, nuclear chemistry, forms of energy, energy transfer and conservation, properties of matter, changes in matter and organic chemistry. Students will also review and evaluate different aspects of chemistry in the news today and apply it to what they are studying in the classroom. Students will be required to complete an additional paper in the first semester and take part in the science exhibit the second semester.
